Caleb is 4 1/2 years old and we haven't felt like he has been ready for potty training...until now! We have felt a lot of pressure from society and even some family members but we have known that if we were patient and waited until he was ready it would all come together...and it did!
We used a method that takes about three days. We first started off with an incentive...talking Woody. When he saw that he was super excited! We told him that he could only have Woody when he was on the toilet and we put underwear on him. He had a hard time at first without the diaper, but actually transitioned quite well. Every 15 minutes we put him on the toilet, even if he didn't have to go. The first day was exhausting and nothing happened. Then on Sunday we stayed home and continued putting him on the toilet every 20 minutes. We filled him with lots of juice, pop, and snacks and pretty soon he had to pee...and did on the carpet. But we rushed him to the toilet and explained to him that that's where we go potty. The next time he had to go we got him to the toilet and he went! He wasn't quite sure what was going on...but we clapped and cheered and he felt so proud of himself! He also got to get talking Woody out of the box. And that was it...he has done great since! He doesn't even wear pull-ups to bed! We could still use some practice on the poopin' but for the most part it has been successful!
We are so proud of him and are so grateful for this major accomplishment in his life! Great job, Caleb!!!
He is so comfortable with the potty training that he even fell asleep on the toilet! How funny!
