We're leaving...We're staying...

Wow! What a busy couple of weeks! Here's the story...

A few weeks ago (sorry I'm a little behind), Matt was venting to me about some things going on at work. It wasn't anything major (his job was never in jeopardy), but it was enough to get me annoyed. That's when I made a couple of phone calls to some dealerships in the valley. The first one I called wasn't hiring. Oh well. Then I thought to call LHM Ford in Sandy. I talked to the service manager and he was hiring, so when Matt got home I told him to give the guy a call. He did and things started progressing. It seemed like such a better job. The pay per hour was about the same, but the amount of hours Matt could be flagging was much higher. That was definitely appealing. Then he heard about the retirement benefits, bonuses, incentives and living in the valley has always been appealing to us. So he made an appointment to meet with one of the service writers on Saturday.

He went down to the shop and took a tour and was basically offered the job right then. We couldn't believe it. We have only lived in Price for a year and now we were almost leaving! So, we went home and prayed about it and made the decision to take the job.

On Monday Matt put in his two weeks notice. Everyone was really surprised and was asking him what had gone wrong and he told them that he really enjoyed Price Auto Group, but needed to make more money. So they offered him raise #1. Matt declined. Then a few days later they offered him raise #2. He thought a little bit about this one, but declined. Then a few days before what was his last day, they took him into the office and really talked to him about what was going on. Matt told them that we needed more stablility and better pay. So they offered him raise #3 which included $7 more per hour and a base salary. That really got us interested in staying.

We had already had our house up for sale, Matt was going to live with my brother until it sold, things were already planned to move. We had told people we were leaving, we were going. Then that offer came in. Matt came home early from work and we spent the entire afternoon and evening talking about our plans for the future and what we wanted.

We really love our house. We love our friends, our ward, our neighborhood. We didn't want to leave, and with an offer like that (making more money per hour than most guys in the valley), why would we?

So, we're staying put in Price. We don't particulary like Price the city (it could use a few more shops, restaurants, etc), but it is where we are going to be for awhile. We are excited to raise our family here and are excited to stay in our house that we love with our neighbors and friends.

We have such a crazy life, but we love it!
