Our changed summer vacation...

So, here's how the story goes... We have been planning for about a year to go to Chief Joseph Days in Oregon. We have gone every other year and this year was our turn. We had been anticipating and planning for a long time for this trip. It was going to be a long drive, but we could handle it. Our plan was for Matt to take Wednesday through Friday off of work and we would come home on Sunday.

Well, as the time for us to leave came closer, things got busier for Matt at work (which is a very good thing). But then one thing after another started to go wrong. A part wouldn't come in, or he would lose something. Anyway, it was Thursday before he was finally caught up and by then there just wasn't enough time for us to drive all the way up there, spend some time, and then drive back. So, we had to cancel our Oregon trip. We were all really disappointed, but knew that it was better for us to not go.

So, we changed our vacation plans. We stayed at a hotel in West Valley that had a swim park inside of it. That was lots of fun! The water in the big pool with all the toys was a little cold, so the kids wanted to hang out in the jacuzzi most of the time. We also played in the arcade later that night. So much fun! Then we took the kids to Discovery Gateway where they got to play with all sorts of fun things! They could have stayed there all day long, but we weren't prepared, so we left after a couple hours. We got to visit with Shayla and did some shopping, too.

On Friday night we went and stayed at Dad's house (he was in Oregon). We watched tv on the big screen, played some pool, and just hung around. It was nice and relaxing! Thanks Dad!

Even though it wasn't our planned vacation, it was still a lot of fun to take a break from everything and enjoy being together as a family. Here are some pictures from our local vacation!
