That's right. We are leaving the great state of Idaho for it's neighbor, Utah. Matt and I have known for awhile now that Utah is where we need to settle. We have been looking for a job for Matt and haven't found one that we have felt right about. Either the shop isn't hiring, it's too small, too big, something! Anyway, last week we drove down to Utah for Matt's interview in Bountiful. He left feeling very confident and with a promise that the manager would call him by the end of the week. Well, Friday came and still no phone call. Then Matt called me and asked if I wanted to go to Price, Utah (as in to live, not just visit). I asked him to explain. The owner of the dealership down there had called Matt (remember, we're waiting for Bountiful to call), and offered him a job and scheduled a time to meet with him on Saturday (the 28th of March). Well, we drove to Price (which is a gorgeous drive) and met with him and talked for 3 hours! It was a very informative meeting and we left thinking that could be Matt's dream job. Here are the basics of the job: 1. He will be working on just Ford diesel trucks (his passion) 2. His pay would double 3. Benefits are great 4. Organized/well-informed management 5. Involved owner
That's just a few of the things that really stuck out with us. The owner is also going to pay our moving expenses to get down there. With all of that, we couldn't turn it down. We had to get over the fact that the town we are moving to is small and about an hour from the Wasatch valley. When Matt and I thought about moving to Utah, we always pictured ourselves in the middle of all the big cities. Well, Price is definitely NOT that, but it is in the middle of TONS of recreation, so we're excited about that. We are definitely looking forward to having all the camping, swimming, fishing, etc.. so close, just like in Idaho. We will miss this area a lot, but we will be back regularly to visit Matt's family. This is a great opportunity for Matt and as a stay-at-home mom I feel like I need to support my husband and go wherever he can find a job, especially a great job like this. It's not where I pictured we'd raise our family (probably because I didn't even know it existed!) but I'm really excited.
There have been numerous things that have happened that have confirmed our decison to move and we are grateful for that. We are very excited to get down there and meet new people and make new friends. Now comes the dreaded part: packing!
