For Labor Day this year we went to Flaming Gorge, UT with my dad, brother, and a couple of his friends and had a blast! Matt took Friday off and we had an awesome 4 day weekend! We hooked up the camp trailer and were gone by 11:00 Friday morning. We took our time driving there and got to the Campground at about 3:30. The kids did so well on the drive! There was definitely some beautiful sights along the way, too! We got to the campground and thankfully got one of the last remaining spots! And it was really close to the playground, so the kids loved it! They spent most of the weekend making new friends and playing on that playground.
Friday night we grilled up some burgers and hot dogs and had a delicious meal! Then Dad had us over to his campsite (across the path) and we roasted HUGE marshmallows! They were so big that they just got all over the place! The kids slept pretty well that night, but in the morning Emily woke up with a terrible cough and wasn't happy. We spent most of Saturday trying to get her feeling better.
Saturday afternoon we went out on my dad's boat. The kids loved it! Although, Emily was super tired, and really just wanted a nap. She did much better when we went out again on Monday. Matt took Alora and Caleb for a turn on the tube (going really slow through a cove), and Alora loved it; Caleb not so much!
On Sunday the guys went floating down the river and I got to stay at the campground entertaining three little kids. It was okay, but Matt did get a terrible sunburn! Poor guy!
By Monday we were ready to go home to our beds. We took one last ride on the boat that morning, then cleaned up, packed up, and were on the road again! It took us a little bit longer than we wanted to get home because of a traffic jam near Kemmerer. Overall, we had an awesome weekend and are thinking this might be a tradition for us! See ya next year, Flaming Gorge?!
