Potty Training again...

After reading Ashley's blog about Elli potting training, I decided that it's about time for Alora to also use the potty. It was just the motivation I needed (thanks Ashley)! Now that we have found our house and are just waiting for it to close escrow, I thought it would be a perfect time to get Alora to use the potty. We went and spent a small fortune and bought her a new pink potty (our other one is in storage), some stickers for her sticker chart, some candy, panties, and princess pull-ups.

Day 1: She woke up and came downstairs and there was everything waiting for her (it looked like Christmas)! I made a big deal of everything and was very excited for her to be a big girl now and go potty in the toilet. Well, so far she has gone pee on my bed and in front of the table in the living room. The good news, however, is that she likes to go and sit on her potty and read her books, so we are making some progress! I'm trying to be patient and not get mad, but I'm hoping that I don't have to clean up very many more messes before she starts to get it!

Day 2: Thought we'd try the panties, but she has now wet in two pairs, so panties are bye bye. I also decided that no matter what I was going to at least have her sit on the potty every hour. Well, this morning she went poop on the potty first thing! Hurray! But then she went pee in the living room, the kitchen, and the dining room. Ugh! Frustration is starting to take over so I call Matt, vent to him for a minute and then get back at it. And now she just went pee pee in the potty by herself! Hurray! She is running around completely naked, so I hope that she catches on quickly so we can get her dressed and start doing things again! Alora has gone pee in the potty a few more times today, so we're really excited! Now we'll just see what tomorrow will bring!

Day 3: Started the day off with a very full pull-up. Explained that the pull-up is NOT a diaper. Then sat her down on the potty; nothing. A little bit later brought the potty into the living room, and success! I still am not sure that she understands when she has to go, but she at least understands that she has gone, so progress? We'll see!

Day 4: Back to diapers. She just wasn't into it. I thought she was ready, but I think we need to wait until we get settled in our new house. It will help A LOT to have our routine back and be together as a family. I'm disappointed, but am proud of her for at least trying. I can't compare Alora to everyone else. She will catch on when she is ready, and I just need to be patient and wait for her. So, it's diapers until then!

No worries. You're a good momma and Alora's a smart little girl. When it's time she'll get it.l

She will get the hang of it, it just might take a little time! I think we as the mom have to really be ready and dedicated to the whole thing!! Good luck!

My mother-in-law kept small suckers or smarties next to the potty and everytime a grandchild went potty in the potty, they got a treat. It helped potty train several of the kids!!
